On the morning of July 1st, the 2023 Wanlü Lake Fishing Festival was held at the Wanlü Lake Scenic Area in Heyuan City. The lake was filled with 50 fishing boats returning with their bountiful catches, and the dock was bustling with activity, witnessing and sharing the joy of the fishermen"s harvest.
"Let the fishing begin! It"s a huge harvest!" As the fishermen showcased their catches, the professional staff started pulling up the fishing nets spread across the lake. Countless fish were lifted out of the water, drawing cheers from the visitors on the shore.
During the thrilling "First-caught Fish Auction" session, a massive 31.4-kilogram"first-caught fish" was sold for 588,933 yuan, while two other large fish weighing 16 kilograms and 26.4 kilograms were auctioned off for 128,000 yuan and 250,000 yuan respectively.

It is reported that the three "first-caught fish" were auctioned for a total of 966,933 yuan, and the funds raised will be donated entirely to support the ecological conservation and breeding and release efforts in Wanlü Lake.
In addition to the fishing ceremony and the first-caught fish auction, various interactive activities were held on-site, including a Hakka local market, themed performances, chefs representing Wanlü Lake"s freshwater produce, and the promotion of provincial-level Cantonese cuisine streets. These activities created a cultural and tourism carnival for the guests. Not only did the attendees appreciate the picturesque scenery of Wanlü Lake, but they also enjoyed exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage projects with the distinctive features of Heyuan and indulged in a Hakka-style feast featuring fish.
Wanlü Lake, covering an area of 370 square kilometers, is located in Dongyuan County, Heyuan City. The water quality has long maintained the national surface water Grade I standard, making it an important source of drinking water for Guangdong and Hong Kong. Thanks to its excellent water quality, the unique cuisine made from fish in Wanlü Lake has become an important catalyst for promoting rural economic development and cultural tourism prosperity in Dongyuan.
广东万绿湖：62斤“头鱼”拍得58万
7月1日上午，河源市万绿湖风景区举行了2023万绿湖开渔活动。湖面迎来满载而归的50艘渔船，码头一派繁忙景象，见证和分享渔民丰收的喜悦。
“开渔咯！大丰收咯！”在渔民展示渔获的同时，随着吆喝声响起，现场专业人员开始拉起撒在湖中的渔网，万千鱼儿随之跃出湖面，引来岸边游客的阵阵欢呼。
在激动人心的“头鱼拍卖”环节，重达62.8斤的“头鱼”以58.8933万元被拍下，另两条重达32斤和52.8斤的大鱼也分别以12.8万元和25万元被拍得。
据悉，3条“头鱼”拍得善款共96.6933万元，拟全部以捐赠方式用于增殖放流、万绿湖水生态环境保护相关工作。
除了开渔仪式、头鱼拍卖等活动外，现场还举行了客家乡土集市、主题展演、厨师代表为万绿湖湖鲜代言、省级粤菜美食街宣传推广等互动活动，为现场宾客打造一场文旅嘉年华。现场宾客不仅领略到了万绿湖的优美画卷，还欣赏到了具有河源特色的非遗项目展演，品尝到了客家美食全鱼宴等。
据了解，坐拥370平方公里水域面积的万绿湖位于河源市东源县境内，水质长期保持国家地表水Ⅰ类标准，是粤港重要的饮用水源地。得益于优良的水环境，以万绿湖鱼为基本食材的特色美食，成为推动东源乡村经济发展和文旅繁荣的重要支点。
